About FSAP
Services
Services
The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program offers a variety of counseling, consultation, family care and educational services for Syracuse University faculty, staff, their families and retirees. These services are strictly confidential and free. Referrals made to outside resources are at personal expense when not covered by other means such as health insurance.
- Counseling: Short-term individual, couple and family counseling is available to help resolve personal and/or workplace concerns.
- Consultation: Consult with the FSAP staff to discuss concerns, strategies and resources for dealing with one-time concerns.
- Crisis/Emergency Psychiatric Services: The FSAP professional staff is available to provide a crisis assessment during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.). After hours and weekends emergency psychiatric services are available at Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation Program (CPEP) at St. Joseph's Hospital, 448-6555; or CONTACT, a 24 hour telephone counseling service, at 251-0600.
- Assessment and Referral: There are times when someone may need something more or different than what is available at the FSAP or requests a recommendation for a referral. The FSAP maintains an updated resource directory to assist in facilitating referrals to other campus or community resources that can best meet the individual's need.
- Family Care: If you and/or a family member would like to discuss a family concern or other work/life issues, or need to explore community resources for child or elder care, contact FSAP.
- Educational Programs: FSAP offers educational programs on a variety of topics in an effort to promote a healthier balance between work and personal life.
- Workshops: The FSAP staff is available at the request of an SU department to develop and present workshops tailor-made to the needs of the department and the target population.
- Critical Incident Stress Debriefings: FSAP provides crisis intervention services and critical incident stress management for the Syracuse University community. A critical incident is any event that has the potential to produce unusual or distressing emotional symptoms such as an accident, injury, death, natural disaster, threat or act of violence or other traumatic events at the workplace.
